The realm of dreams, often called Limbo, has crashed into the waking world. Spawning endless hordes of monsters that have infested the planet. Living nightmares made flesh called the Eldritch. It was during this time of trouble that the mortal god Parem'Zel used his immense power and mastery of magic to create a high, nigh impenetrable ring of mountains. In a desperate attempt to protect the last remnants of the mortal races. His descendants claiming the throne of a unified empire of all races. Six centuries later and the great black iron wall of Athigard to the north is all that stands between us and the terrible dark beyond the mountains. The only known passage across the mountains. Within Mortalum, each sphere of conflict represents a primary plot ark taking placing within the greater world. As the story develops and more characters take part, these spheres will progress. Each of these spheres of conflict act as a single chapter within our forums overall story. Every major change to these spheres of conflict represents a new chapter to our story. A story where the actions of the characters will direct how our world develops.

CIVIL UNREST - The Unified Kingdom of Overna has watched its golden age come and go. Six hundred years after its founding and the realm is under threat on all sides. With the great navy of the elves and the merchant cities newly trained mercenary army, the kingdom is surrounded. This new challenge to the kingdoms six century supremacy threatening to bring about a new world order. NEW SHADOW - While the Lich King was destroyed six centuries ago during the great calamity, his influence has remained ever present. Worshipers of the ancient necromancer seeking the power of true resurrection have turned their eyes to a new power rising in the west. The black wizard, an archmage of the Triune Magocracy. With beliefs so very similar to their own. Over the past century the Cult of Grim has slowly infiltrated every level of governance throughout the kingdom. Preparing the way for the ascension of Shadar's Bane, the slayer of death. Believing Grimone to be the reincarnation of the Lich King, these zealots are ruthless in their search for immortality. FURIYAN WAR - The military alliance between the red orcs and the apefolk of Furiya have lead to a fierce campaign against the sun elf tribes of the eastern savannah. But with the dwarves seeking to retake the ancient ruins of Mithua, this conflict threatens to bring the attention of the other nations. Meanwhile the coalition prepares for its war against the kingdom, facing potential enemies on all sides. The sub continent is on edge and the spark of war has been lit, with the pieces slowly moving into place. Even the kingdom itself has taken interest as orcs from all throughout the world seek refuge with their own kind in the south to escape the persecution of the other races.
Mortalum operates under the idea of Fluid Time. Meaning the same character can take part in multiple RP threads at different times and locations in game at once. To keep this organized and stay away from contradictions, it is expected that members keep track of all their RP threads. Creating a plotter OOC thread where all your RP encounters are listed and linked to in chronological order in game. That way everyone has a linier timeline for their characters. Because of this, we recommend you don't RP more then a few months in the past or future.
Spring is nearing its end, the 1st three months of in game RP is about to move forward into summer and into the 2nd chapter of Mortalums story. With the coming of summer, the world of mortalum is on the edge of war and I'm excited to see our story slowly advancing forward!
