Werewolves

Werewolves, also known as Lycanthropes, are as ancient as vampires. The first alphas arriving at roughly the same time as the elder vampires about fifteen hundred years ago. While werewolves of Mortalum have several variants, they all share the same weakness to pure silver. Burning their skin like acid and halting their ability to regenerate wounds made by it. Thus even in human form, pure silver always leaves a permanent scar. Their bite is highly venomous, able to kill most creatures in a day if not treated. Only by drinking the blood of a shade can this deadly poison be purified from the body. In humanoid form a werewolf has twice the physical strength, durability, speed, stamina and senses of an average member of their race. All werewolves possess a regeneration factor similar to vampires, even while in human form. Silver being the only known material able to stop their regenerative healing. Burning mixed herbs has also been known to cause short term disorientation, confusion and nausea in werewolves due to their enhanced sense of smell.
STAFF PERMISSION REQUIRED TO CREATE A CHARACTER WITH LYCANTHROPY
Primal: Werewolves of any type that are permanently trapped in wolf form. Their intelligence overwhelmed by their feral instinct to hunt and kill their prey. These primal werewolves appear as large dire wolves, twice the average size. With bright glowing red eyes and a venomous bite. Unfortunately these are by far the most common type of werewolf. However an alpha with great strength of will can command these primal beasts while in wolf form.
Alpha: The original family of werewolves are as ancient as they are proud. Alphas are born not created, descended from the ancient ancestral bloodline of the original family. They are the only known type of werewolf whos bite is capable of turning ordinary mortals into legacies. Though creatures such as animals, uncommon races and vampires will suffer their venom. Gifted with an ancestral dire wolf form, bound to the day before, day of and day after a full moon. Their minds turn feral during this transformation, however certain enchanted items can grant them mental control. In addition to this, an alpha has a secondary, humanoid wolf form that they can use as a partial transformation at any time during the night. Their bite in this form is just as effective and they retain full control without the need of magical assistance.
Legacy: Werewolf legacies can be a member of any common race who has been bitten by an alpha. Transforming into dire wolf form the day before, day of and day after a full moon. Unlike alphas, legacies do not have a partial humanoid wolf form, however they retain the doubled physical prowess of a typical lycanthrope while in mortal form. Their bite will not turn other creatures, however their venom unlike an alpha will kill common races just like a primal werewolf. Like alphas, they require magical assistance to be able to achieve mental control while turned.
Cursed: Member of any common race who has been cursed by a spirit with lycanthropy. Unlike other werewolves, their transformation can be bound to any cycle of nature. Including cycles of the moon, change of seasons or even the weather. Every cursed werewolf is different as their transformations could easily last for many days depending on the cycle of nature they are bound to. Similar to legacies, their bite can not turn other creatures and their venom will kill common races. Like alphas and legacies, they require magical assistance to be able to achieve mental control while turned.
