The Dracones De Tãçi Cordata, shortened to Tãçi Cordata, or more commonly and incorrectly known as the Imperial Assassins, are a covert team of operatives underneath the power of the High Inquisitor. While they are best known as Assassins, they deal primarily in information. Imperial Assassins are either hired from criminals that show their mettle or among the ranks of the Gendarmarie who show curiously considerable capacity in the arts of subterfuge, deception and other skills that relate to less noble professions.
Yes, they do indeed often assassinate for the King during public manhunts, but in most cases, they simply are to infiltrate society covertly while reporting to the High Inquisitor, Hand of the King or the King himself if so need be. While they are internally oriented, many higher ranking members such as former member Cadeus Helscar are often assigned to tasks on foreign ground. Other than assassination and espionage, they are also tasked with sabotage and trickery. Intercepting messages and instead relaying false information to enemies, falsifying documents and generally causing plenty of chaos through misinformation is core to the occupation.
Every member, called a Dracones, varies greatly in skillset and equipment, though there is a few months of training and examinations before being ingrained into the Tãçi Cordata. This primarily relates to survival skills, as many Dracones have to be able to live on the land to quickly and covertly messages. They must be able to adapt to any environment and situation. They must be able to infiltrate both covertly in the shadows unseen or overtly in disguise and character.
The Bloodhound, the actual personal assassin of the King, is thought to be a part of the "Imperial Assassins". This is, however, not the case. The Bloodhound is often chosen from their ranks, and works with them at times, but the Bloodhound not officially licensed as part of the Kingdom's governance, working completely unrelated to the Tãçi Cordata.
