Alacros Vampiris, or more widely known as Pseudo-Vampires, are alchemically altered mortals that have been attained a power similar to that of a Vampire through alchemical and magical means. The first of the Pseudo-Vampires were Vampire Hunters, using the power of Vampires against them. To become a Pseudo-Vampire, one most alchemically altered through several grueling processes requiring the blood of a Vampire and a Mage possessed by an Infernal Spirit. The stronger the Vampire and Infernal Spirit, the stronger the results of the transformation, though they will almost always be get weaker results than the Vampire whom the blood originated from, similar to how each generation of Vampire is weaker than the last, though if the Infernal Spirit is of extreme potency, they could potentially match them instead.
Pseudo-Vampires are not undead. They are very much alive, and are extremely hard to kill though not as infallible as real Vampires. They can be killed through mundane means but unreliably as most Pseudo-Vampires have healing capabilities that would allow them to survive normally fatal wounds such as daggers to the heart or even having some of their head blown off. They require a thorough execution such as making sure that they dagger doesn't get loosened from their chest and slide out, and making sure that the parts of their brain that govern vitals are destroyed, not just the ones that govern cognitive movements. This, of course, varies depending on the strength of the Pseudo-Vampire in question, some weaker ones will go down just as easy as any man, and the stronger ones can survive having their entire heart ripped out of their chest in a stable environment and with some help, allowing them to regenerate faster than they could die.
Pseudo-Vampires are not affected by silver nor sunlight though their enhanced eyesight would still likely give them trouble in broad daylight, similarly to normal Vampires. Due to the blood of a Shade being involved in their creation, they are naturally immune to Werewolf Venom along with many other diseases, afflictions and poisons. However, they require food, water and sleep, as they are still mortal.
They also share a thirst for blood, though normal mortal blood unnecessary. Instead, they feast on the blood of Vampires. They must do so if they wish to keep on living, as they will slowly starve and become frenzied for blood, whatever it may come from. They require vampire blood as a Trueborn requires mortal blood, their regeneration fading away when they starve. Their prey, however, is much rarer and far more dangerous, with most of them going mad before finding any vampires. Curiously, the blood of other Pseudo-Vampires seem to do well, so many Vampire-Hunting Companies often will find cannibalism at the end of their career.
