(BELIEFS)
As a proud Juodan, he follows the traditions of his people. Giving reverence to the great all mother, Ashakhal Morghuln. Believed to be the mysterious flowing energy that binds all life together. This powerful spirit of life is who the Juodan tribes give reverence and pray to. A dark and temperamental, yet comforting goddess of life. But just as life is demanding, painful and difficult, so too is Ashakhal. Demanding regular blood sacrifices to fuel her immortality. In return for ritual blood to feed their goddesses power, she blesses them with a fertility, bountiful harvests, prosperity and protection from their enemies. This covenant between the Juodan and Ashakhal is bound in the blood of their race and their fate is therefore under the great mothers dominion. Allowing her to punish the whole of their people with disease, famine and misfortune when sacrifices are not done properly.

(TEMPERAMENT)
Gharn is known far and wide for his impatience, yet as chieftain he is forced to learn is and learn it well. Being the son of Gra'Haru Oghier, the first chief to unite their tribes against the human threat to the north, he feels a heavy weight on his shoulders to live up to his fathers legacy. He views the culture and traditions of his people as sacred and any who threaten that are his enemy. While he is not above diplomacy, Gharn has learned that negotiation from a position of strength is required to achieve his goals. His family name demands the absolute respect of all under his rule and he seeks to ensure it remains that way. Rebellion is crushed with no mercy, invasion is countered with absolute ferocity. Allies are made with the subtlest of care and chosen wisely. Because of this, Gharn chooses his friends far more carefully then he does his enemies. (BACKGROUND)
Born to the Okatli tribe of the northwestern avaracian jungle, as son of a lesser chieftain. His childhood was one of constant danger. As raids by neighboring apeling tribes had become common place, for slave labor, food and wealth. It wasn't until Gharn turned six years old, that his tribe made contact with humans to the north. Trading spices and lumber for iron and steel armor and weaponry. Allowing his father Gra'haru Oghier to dominate the neighboring tribes and incorporate them into his army.
One by one his father Gra'haru pressured over forty tribes into joining his confederacy. Their steel far surpassing the bow and spears of their brethren. Gharn respected his father, but like all Juodan, family was more then blood. His tribe was family and with the incorporation of tens of thousands more of their kind, they became his family as well.
At the age of ten, the shamanic Ak'hali priesthood discovered his talent for beast taming. Naming him the Okur'nil Athi'nasu. The prince of beasts, a sacred title given to only the most skilled and powerful of young shamans, with the greatest potential for mastery. As he mastered his skill in beast taming, he learned strategy and combat from his father and three brothers.
At the age of fifteen, he discovered the humans betrayal. Trespassing in the jungle and stealing over thirty acres of fresh lumber. Little did they know, this was the sight of a sacred spring, a natural temple to their goddess Ashakhal. Such an act of destruction was unlawful and punishable by death. He remembers the day his father and one thousand warriors marched out to avenge the desecration of their sacred homeland... None of them ever returned. The army obliterated by the more advanced and better trained legions of the kingdom.
As was tradition, three days of mourning was called to perform the proper death rites for their fallen warriors. Gharn was heartbroken, but after the days of mourning were completed, he would ride out to met the human army. Calling upon the tribes of his father confederacy to fulfill their oaths of vengeance against his fathers enemies. Gharn was impatient then, but he was no fool. His father had rushed into battle without understanding their enemy. Gharn would never make that mistake. With over ten thousand warriors at his back, armed with iron and steel, he set out to burn, raid and pillage the unsuspecting city of Charne. The wealth obtained that day was more then his father had ever achieved.
A peace was established between the kingdom and the new tribal confederacy of avaricia. To this day, both humans and apeling continue to trade along the edges of the jungle with great suspicion. As he returned home, the thousand elders of the forty tribes of avaricia took him on a journey to the ruins of Faenous. Gharn ascended to the top of the ancient temple of Ashakhal Morghuln. There the thousand elders bowed in reverence to the one who avenged their people and their goddess. The Ak'hali Feathered Priests took the crown of his father and sactified Gharn as the 2nd Grand Halach, Defender of the Juodan and High Warlord of Avaricia.
Gharn quickly established himself as a mighty conqueror. Winning several battles against the sun elves to the west and nomadic monling tribes of the south. Expanding his domain out to the ruins of Khoran and the river lands to the west for its rich farmland. And as as far south as the sacred cities of Tasai and Saksura. Overtime his people established trade routes with the Drayke across the sea in Haven, even the Satyr of Mistwood. With the southern monling tribes forced into vassels to pay tribute to the high ranking Ak'hali Feathered Priesthood.
