MOUNTS OF MORTALUM
There are numerous creatures and animals that are used as mounts throughout the lands of mortalum. Whether for travel or in war, these beasts serve their masters with fierce loyalty. Often with years of training, a mount can be given commands by their owner when shown respect. Mounts in Mortalum require a certain post count on your most recent account before you can claim one as your own. You can either create a new character along side that mount, or have your current character receive the mount through roleplay, it's entirely up to you.
Warhorse
RANK REQUIREMENT: BRONZE
Anyone can find and ride a common horse, but a Warhorse is on a different level entirely. Standing at roughly seven feet tall, these powerful animals are often equipped with customized armor. These masterfully breed horses are the best balance of strength, durability and speed.
Wargoat
RANK REQUIREMENT: BRONZE
Typically used by the dwarven military of the five drugar cities due to their smaller size and excellent climbing abilities. Extremely effective in combat as they ram into their enemies. Though not as fast as horses, their maneuverability more then makes up for it.
Auroch
RANK REQUIREMENT: BRONZE
An auroch is a breed of large oxen with massive horns. This massive bull has a quick temper is a difficult to tame, but not impossible. Powerful wild beasts often used by orcs as mounts along side dire boars. Auroch frighten far less easily than horses. Adult bulls can become extremely confrontational in mating season, and even kill one another in pursuit of particular females. However with time and training this aggression can be curbed.
Cervidae
RANK REQUIREMENT: BRONZE
A large species of elk used by wood elves within greenwood. This majestic beast stands the height of a man at its shoulders, a many-tipped rack of proud antlers crowning its head. Cervidae also prove exceptionally adaptable and remarkable survivors, capable of living through severe changes in weather and in a variety of environments without concern. Their resistance to extreme weather and their balance of speed, strength and agility make them excellent for long journeys.
Dire Boar
RANK REQUIREMENT: SILVER
Giant boars gifted with multiple massive tusks. Often used as mounts by dwarven cavalry. Only slightly slower then your average Dire Wolf and slightly smaller in size. But their great ferocity in battle is why they are more common then both. While a Dire Bear may have strength, they are sluggish and slow to travel. A Dire Boar is the best of both, moderate agility and powerful in combat, but without the extreme speed or immense strength of either.
Dire Wolf
RANK REQUIREMENT: SILVER
Giant wolves roughly the size of a large bear. If captured and raised as a pup, they can easily form a bond with their master. Dire wolves are more then big enough to ridden, however it's their immense speed and agility will take practice for you to get used to.
Dire Bear
RANK REQUIREMENT: SILVER
Giant bears, about twice the size of your average grizzly. Similar to dire wolves, if captured and raised as a cub, they can easily form a bond with their master. Dire Bears are typically much slower and bulkier then dire wolves, however their immense strength makes up for it.
Physornis
RANK REQUIREMENT: SILVER
Also known as terror birds, these massive flightless creatures are as fast as any horse but can turn on a dime. Capable of navigating through a battlefield with more grace and agility then any ordinary horse. Often growing up to eight feet tall from feet to head. With a beak capable of shattering bone and tearing off limbs. Typically raised from birth as a hatchling and rigorously trained.
Warg
RANK REQUIREMENT: SILVER
Orcish mounts found all throughout Mortalum, with both glacian, oathian and furiyan variants. As large as a bear but as fast and agile as a wolf. These creatures a incredibly difficult to tame and the many orc tribes who have done so using extreme skill and many generations of trial and error to truly tame these ferocious carnivores.
Unicorn

Unicorn
RANK REQUIREMENT: GOLDEN
Though extremely rare, they do exist and can be breed in captivity. Slightly smaller then a Warhorse, yet powerful none the less. Given the respect they deserve, a unicorn will always stand by their masters in the heat of battle. Although not able to fly, they are exceptionally faster and more agile then a Pegasus.
Pegasus
RANK REQUIREMENT: GOLDEN
Equally as rare as unicorns, Pegasus are notoriously wild at heart and difficult to tame. Though with the right trainer and master they can make for fantastic mounts. However when being ridden, the extra weight makes it so that they can only fly in short bursts while in low altitudes, not extended periods of time. Typically being a bit slower compared to unicorns when on ground.
Stymph
RANK REQUIREMENT: PLATINUM
Giant eagles standing about ten feet tall, with a wingspan of up to twenty feet and resembles its smaller cousins in nearly every way except size. Found in mountain ranges all throughout the world. Intelligent creatures nearly impossible to tame, instead choosing their riders themselves. While Tengu riders are quite rare, as mounts they're slightly faster, yet slightly weaker in combat then a griffin.
Griffin

Griffin
RANK REQUIREMENT: PLATINUM
Griffins are powerful, majestic creatures with the characteristics of both lions and eagles. Roughly twice the size of some of the largest known horses. From nose to tail, an adult Griffin can grow to as much as ten feet. Both males and females are endowed with a mane. Gifted with a pair of broad, golden wings that will emerge or retract from the creature’s back as they see fit. Slightly slower in flight then a Tengu, but physically stronger and able to carry more weight.
Raptor
RANK REQUIREMENT: JEWELED
Two legged reptilian carnivores native to the avarician jungle, roughly five to six feet tall. They are often found travelling in packs, sharing tactics to bring down prey that is larger and stronger using the sickle-shaped claws on their powerful rear legs. But if taken as an egg, trained and raised from birth, they are relatively easy to tame. If you keep them well fed that is.

Turadon
RANK REQUIREMENT: JEWELED
Flying reptiles native to the avarician jungle, extremely expensive and hard to capture. But relatively easy to train once found. Known to scholars as a Pteranadon, among commoners they are more commonly called Turadon. These giant flying beasts are only slightly smaller then an average Stymph or Griffin. Able to travel slightly faster then most Stymph but slightly less durable in battle then the average Griffin.
Tyranous
RANK REQUIREMENT: LEGEND
Yes, it's exactly what you think it is. A Trex of the Avarician jungle, also called a wingless dragon or psudo dragon. They have no breath weapon and are incapable of flight. But on the battlefield they are the ultimate engine of chaos. While not quite as fast or agile as a Raptor, they are ferocious in combat. A fully grown Tyranous standing roughly 13-15 feet tall and about 40-45 feet in length. Notoriously difficult to train, but if captured and raised from an egg, while taking special care to put the fear of the rider into it from a young age, it is possible.
Wyvern
RANK REQUIREMENT: LEGEND
Mounts of legendary might, technically proto dragons, they lack a true dragons intelligence and elemental breath. While not as fast in flight as a Tengu, Griffin or Turadon, a wyvern makes up for it with its incredible durability and ruthless attacks in battle. Wyverns are impossible to tame normally and the mysterious process through which a Wyvern chooses its rider is currently unknown, they are seen in myth and legend. Throughout history, the ascendance of a soul bound Wyvern rider is often a sign of great chaos and calamity.
